Belfast town guide
Belfast is the capital City of Northern Ireland, situated in a beautiful location on the coast between Cave hill and the Black Mountain. It was from here that great ships of the past, including the Titanic, were built and launched. You can now take a boat trip around this part of the Belfast dock area.
The city is brimming with cultural vibrancy. Belfast's Queen's University is well known. The cathedral, St. Annes, has a wonderful display of stained glass windows. The Grand Opera House and the Linen Hall Library, with over 20,000books on Irish politics, theatre and actors, are worthy of a visit. Queen Victoria built Belfast City Hall to commemorate the granting of city status on Belfast in 1888. There is also a castle and zoo to see.
A hire car will allow you to travel out of Belfast and explore further afield. The Mourne Mountains or the historic village of Hillsborough, where the Castle is the home of the secretary of State, are within easy reach.
